Did the United States Lose the Viet Nam War?  Was it a hopeless enterprise?

Let's begin with eliminating myths about the U.S.A. involvement in this Viet Nam War.:

       1. This was not Nixon's War. This involvement was not the doing of any Republican.

       2. President John Kennedy, a strong anti-Communist Democrat sent some advisors to South Viet Nam to help fight off the Northern Communists.  The intention was ADVISORS.  Tragically, John Kennedy was assassinated in 1963 by Lee Harvey Oswald, a pro-Communist and pro Fidel Castro devotee. (An interesting side note is the American Media blamed conservatives for this during many years after 1963. When TRUTH that Oswald was LEFT politically became well known... the stories stopped.)

       3. Lyndon Johnson took the Oath of Office aboard Air Force One on way back to Washington DC from Dallas.  Johnson had been a powerful Democrat US Senator from Texas before being Kennedy's Vice President.   Soon, Johnson started a major escalation of the Viet Nam War sending many thousands of US troops to that country to fight the Northern Communists. To be politically correct, Johnson refused to let military conduct war to win.... and had so many restrictions placed on "Rules of Engagements" many American lives were lost because of Johnson's political priorities.  The war became most unpopular and Johnson refused to run for re-election.

       4. When President Nixon took the White House the USA was in turmoil and to deflect blame away from Johnson, the Media began calling this Nixon's War.  This slander is still being spread today.  Nixon was on the verge of PEACE as well as accomplishing a major international success by opening up communications with Red China.... when the Media used a burglary in the Watergate Hotel to finally destroy the Nixon Presidency.

       5. The North Viet Nam Government saw this turmoil, went back on the agreed PEACE, and hundreds of thousands of innocents were slaughtered in the aftermath of the USA abandonment of South Viet Nam,

This video is a good summary of what really happened. MY GENERATION witnessed this first hand on TV every night.
